Astral Pool Heaters Electrical Safety Product Recall Notification
A Safety Related Product Recall Campaign involving select Astral Pool Natural and LPG Gas Heaters is currently occurring. Details of the Astral Pool Heater Product Recall can also be found on www.productsafety.gov.au
What is the issue?
The supplier of Astral Pool gas heaters to our business, Fluidra Group Australia Pty Ltd, has identified that water or moisture may enter the ignition module inside the gas heater causing it to fail. This may result in overheating and “sparking” and in certain circumstances may lead to the plastic casing catching fire. It can also create a ‘false’ call for heating, allowing the heater to operate when in the OFF position, bridging the safety circuit and allowing the Heater to operate with no water flow. If the ignition module fails and causes a fire, this may result in a serious injury or death to users or bystanders.
Which products are affected?
The following Astral Pool gas heaters sold by Fluidra through swimming pool specialists between 1st December 2012 and 26th October 2020 form part of this campaign:
- HiNRG Natural & LPG Gas Heaters – Model Numbers: 175, 250 and 400
- ICI Natural & LPG Gas Heaters – Model Numbers: 200 and 400
- Viron eVo Natural & LPG Gas Heaters – Model Numbers: 250, 350 and 450
What should you do?
If you have any of the above models, immediately stop using the heater and disconnect the heater from the power supply. Go to www.astralpool.com.au/ProductRecall for instructions on how to do this.
On the same website, please complete the online Booking Registration Form to arrange for a technician to repair your gas heater. Unfortunately, PoolHeat are unable to perform the Recall for you on this occasion so customers must complete the Booking Registration Form. Please note that Fluidra will require the product serial number, model number and build date – all of which can be found on the product data plate situated at the rear of the Heater. Most PoolHeat customers can just call us and we will be able to send them a copy of these details. If you are not a PoolHeat customer instructions can be found on the www.astralpool.com.au/ProductRecall website.
If you are using a Viron Connect Automation System in conjunction with the Heater, it will require a temporary cable to be connected to the Viron Connect for the pool pump to operate once the heater has been switched off. This temporary cable will be sent to you within 5 working days of Fluidra receiving your completed registration. Again, instructions for connection of this cable can be found on the www.astralpool.com.au/ProductRecall website. This temporary cable will be removed by the Fluidra technician after they have repaired the heater and re-connected it to the Connect 10 System.
If you require assistance with any aspect of the booking or rectification process please contact PoolHeat if you are a PoolHeat customer, or Fluidra’s Product Recall Information Team on 1300 852 501 or email anz.productrecall@fluidra.com .
What will Fluidra do about the Astral Pool Heater Product Recall?
Once Fluidra receives your completed registration form they will schedule an appointment for a qualified technician to come out and inspect and repair your heater on site, FREE OF CHARGE.
Fluidra will not be liable for any rectification costs associated with installations that do not conform to their specifications or do not meet regulatory requirements.
Please remember this is an urgent safety related recall, so register your affected product on the Astral Pool Heater Product Recall page as soon as possible.
